Biosphere 2 by Mark Geil

Issue 1

The Biosphere 2 project relayed a combination of science, science fiction, and a kind of utopian ecology. While the results of the original experiment are contentious, I am more intent on the big dreams and New-Eden-like aspirations behind the massive 150 million dollar project. The images relay the interface between a human made ecology and human confidence, and I wanted to see how this conception of the 21st century living ran-up against late 20th century designs and materials. I wanted to explore the results of the effort to make the built environment of today look futuristic.
